ALFA UPS DELIVERS CUSTOMIZED SOLUTIONS TO BOMBARIDER TRANSPORTATION Reference

Bombardier Transportation, a global leader in rail technology, offers the broadest portfolio in the rail industry and delivers innovative products and services that set new standards in sustainable mobility.
Bombardier Transportation has won a frame contract from Deutsche Bahn for up to 450 locomotives to be delivered by 2023. The manufacturing of the 130 locomotives which were called off first started in 2014. The serial production will ramp up in 2015.

For this project, ALFA UPS developed a new customized solution, based around its existing battery chargers, inverters and DC/DC converters.

Electric locomotives are a challenging environment for these systems with a wide ambient temperature range from -40°C to +70°C, shock and vibration, and extremely wide input voltage and frequency ranges. ALFA UPS systems withstand these challenges and deliver excellent reliability.

Fulfilling the whole range of different control voltage requirements of the locomotive was a main point to win the contract.
